Renee Cox’s solo New York show

 

A solo exhibition by Jamaican artist Renee Cox at Carthouse Proper in Brooklyn, New York will feature her critically acclaimed 1993 large-format photograph piece Yo Mama and its counterpart David (1993) as a diptych entitled Origin. Titled Roots Returned, the exhibition showcases striking images of black empowerment and presents a re-envisioned version of the traditional Christian redemption story and Michelangelo’s David. The exhibition opens Saturday, September 28th, 6:00 pm through November 10th, 2019.
