Ebony Patterson doesn’t romp. In January, Jamaica’s hottest artist received a United States Artists Fellowship Award in the visual arts. Fellowships are unrestricted awards recognizing artists for their contribution to the field. The artists decide how to best support their lives with the $50,000 award.
In January also, Ebony had a solo show at the University of Michigan titled “the of 72 project.” The exhibition featured her signature mixed media work on fabric, with digital imagery, embroidery, rhinestones, trimmings, bandanas and floral appliques.
In February, Ebony will exhibit again, this time at the Illinois State University in Chicago. And later this year she will be featured at the Perez Art Museum, Miami.
