Fugitive Pathways

 

Fugitive Pathwaysa solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Jasmine Thomas-Girvan, opens Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM at New Local Space (NLS), 190 Mountain View Ave, Kingston.

Thomas-Girvan participated in NLS Sustainable Sculpture Residency in Maroon Town, in St. James; the works come from that experience. They explore themes of ecological harmony, cultural heritage, and the enduring legacy of marronage—strategies of resistance and survival employed by Maroons and enslaved Africans.

Rianna Jade Parker curates the exhibition.

Fugitive Pathways will have public viewings with no appointments necessary today, December 19, from 3-6pm, with the opportunity to chat with the artist, Jasmine Thomas-Girvan as well as every Sunday in January between 12-4pm.
