Jamaican-born artist Renee Cox was recently appointed Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at Columbia University in New York. Her controversial work focusses on issues related to race and gender in America, offering a critique of society and celebration of black womanhood often through the use of her own body, both nude and clothed.
