JAMAICAN ANIMATORS VISIT FRANCE

Eight local animation studios are attending the Marché International des Programmes de Communication content trade show in Cannes, France, until October 17th. They will participate in content screenings and conferences and promoting their animation projects. They will also network with international industry professionals, and seek opportunities for animation features to be produced in Jamaica as outsourcing projects.

Ten Jamaican animation projects will be showcased in the screenings Library at the trade show to attract content buyers and secure co-production deals. The delegation’s visit is funded by The World Bank and supported by the Business of Sustainability for Studios Programme, JAMPRO and the Office of the Prime Minister.

The BOSS Programme aims to support youth employment in the digital and animation industries in Jamaica.  JAMPRO says the Programme will groom 20 existing animation production studio executives to grow their businesses into sustainable and profitable production and animation entities; support the development of the local Animation industry; and ultimately, transform the landscape in Jamaica to encourage greater local direct investment in the creative economy.
