Isaac Mendes Belisario's “Koo-Koo, or Actor Boy”

 

Isaac Mendes Belisario was one of the earliest artists to depict Jamaican culture. This character sketch, “Koo-Koo, or
Actor Boy”, is of a junkanoo dancer after Emancipation. It was in his collection of lithographs released in 1837-38.
