FILM - JAMAICAN FILM FLIGHT WINS MORE AWARDS

Flight by Jamaican directors Kia Moses and Adrian McDonald was recently awarded Best Short Film at the Belize International Film Festival. Flight is about a boy who wants to become an astronaut and travel to space to be closer to his late mother. His father is sceptical at first, but soon realizes why his son dreams of space travel and becomes his co-pilot. The film stars Jermaine “Zbek” Nelson, and child actors Roheim Phillips, Craig Robinson and Akalia Golding.

Moses believes it is the humanity in the story that has captured the hearts of juries across the globe. Flight placed second in the live action category at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and was on show at Sole DXB, an annual footwear, music, art, and lifestyle festival in Dubai. The film also won awards at the Black Women Film Network in Atlanta, Nouveaux Regards Film Festival in Guadeloupe, International Du Film Pan African de Cannes in France, and the American Black Film Festival in Miami.
