NAKAZZI'S MASKS FOR LONDON

Jamaican artist and sculptor, Nakazzi Hutchinson, will showcase her glass and ceramic masks and sculptures at the Zari Gallery, in London from July 4 – 19. While she has previously exhibited in the Caribbean, USA and Europe, this is her first full-scale UK showing. Nakazzi grew up in Barbados before returning to Jamaica in 1995 as a student of the Edna Manley School of Art. She says her current work invokes ancestral presences and organically connect the mystical and material worlds. Nakazzi comes from great pedigree. She is the daughter of Jamaican artist Dawn Scott and Barbadian Rastafarian and Pan Africanist the late Dr Ikael Tafari.
