Jamaicans at Venice Biennale

 

Jamaican artist Joy Gregory will exhibit at the Diaspora Pavilion at Venice's 57th Biennale, May 13th to December 26th 2017. Also exhibiting at the pavilion will be Isaac Julien, Barbara Walker and Dave Lewis, all with Caribbean Roots. One of the show's curators, Jessica Taylor, has Barbadian roots, and the other, David Bailey, is of Bahamian origins. He has also worked in Jamaica. 

The Diaspora Pavilion project is designed to deliver 22 months of mentoring and professional development by ten selected mentors for eleven UK-based emerging artists whose work engage with the topic of the diaspora. 

The International Curators Forum and University of the Arts London, and the Arts Council England International Showcasing Fund are sponsors of the project.

There will be a private viewing at the Diaspora Pavilion on Wednesday May 10th 2017, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Biennale will be held at the Palazzo Pisani Santa Marina, 30100 Venice Italy.
