Jamaican Artist Exhibits at Miami Art Week

Jamaican multidisciplinary artist Jamilah Sabur’s work will be shown at the second annual Faena Festival during Miami Art Week 2019. Her video installation, Obra, will focus on the theme of memory and how it can spread across geography and time, reflecting Jamaica through images of a former plantation and mid-twentieth century mosque combined with fluttering tapestries — beekeeping suits, white tunics and the Ethiopian flag. Sabur is now an artist in residence at Oolite Arts. Earlier this year she had a solo exhibition at L.A.’s Hammer Museum and was in a group exhibition at Pérez Art Museum Miami. The Faena Festival runs Monday December 2nd through Sunday December 8th at Faena Forum, 3300-3398 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. Admission is free.
